Mad for the MAB - hyenas and their love for cognition trials

Today, I wanted provide you with some pictures of Lily's multi-access box (MAB) and inhibition tube trials as they happen on the Serena side of the Maasai Mara. The hyenas have really enjoyed participating in these puzzles, and I've really enjoyed taking pictures of them while they do!

Venice looking at me through the opaque tube.

Pterodactyl grabbed the tube and ran for a few hundred meters!

Star Gazer mouthing the clear tube after completing several successful trials.

Rangsang nomming on the doorknob.

Half of North clan came to this MAB party!

Ferguson Farms thought FOR SURE this was how he would open the box.

This is Ferg's box, now.

Jean-Luc Picard really loves milk powder - who knew?
Hope you enjoyed these photos! We are collecting a lot of good data for Lily's project; we've seen a lot of hyena silliness (some of it pictured above), but we have also watched a few hyenas open the MAB and complete their inhibition tube trials successfully. It has been so much fun to be a part of this grad student project!
